The Six Bells has new and enthusiastic owners
John and Mary Stradling
The Six Bells Brewery was rescued and reopened in 1997 by “Big Nev” after being closed for almost one hundred years. Nev is the fourth generation of his family to be a brewer so you could say that real ale is in his blood!
The Six Bells Brewery only uses the best quality malt and hops as ingredients for our beer. We never use added sugars or processed ingredients which means you can always taste straight away the quality of a Six Bells pint.

This Months Special Also Available
ABV 4.0%; Colour: Blonde
Punchy Blonde with a hint of spring in its taste - LUSH.
Spicy, tropical fruit flavours combined with subtle malt characteristics and a citrus finish, make this an intriguingly refreshing and cheeky little number.
ABV 4.2%; Colour: Mid Brown
A great balanced best bitter with good malt flavour alongside East Kent Goldings hop gives a sweet smooth aroma and with some honey undertone.
This is a great thirst quencher any time of day.
Six Bells Pub
The Six Bells Pub has been a fixture of Bishops Castle life since 1670.
There are no fruit machines or piped music. In winter a good log fire keeps everyone cosy. The bar is traditional too, with a row of beer engines serving Six Bells ales. (Yes, you can buy Guinness, lager and keg cider here, but the pumps are tucked quietly out of the way.) Dogs are welcome in the bar.
We trust that you will come and enjoy some of the very best beers (anywhere), great wines and ciders and for those that must we have stowford press cider and Star Pramen lager on draught, along with Guinness.
Six Bells Restaurant
We look to provide great “home” cooked food, sourcing our meat from the Shropshire butchers that can demonstrate the provenence of their meats. Our Leading supplier is the Battlefield butchers at Shrewsbury, whose head butcher has been a long time regular. Most vegetables are from the local farmers market, with limited sourcing from other shops.
The traditional wooden floored lounge is cosy and comfortable for dining.
The pub has a very welcoming atmosphere and ticks the town local box in full. Feel free to drop in with your dog or cat, wet clothes and muddy boots are also welcomed, as are vegetarian diners.
We do also cater for Vegans, but a call can ensure a variety of options are available.
Please note that you are welcome to bring well behaved children to enjoy the ambience, we will try and cater for them food wise, but do not provide food for children.
The Six Bells will be open all day Sundays with food available from 12pm to 6pm.
At lunch times we provide sandwiches and baguettes, but for parties of 6 or more are very happy to provide cooked food. If in doubt please give us a call .
